Lunch
People staying outside of Resol no Mori
We have been able to arrange the lunch buffet. The price is ¥2,000 and also includes payment for a spot during the day to keep your bags and to keep dry in case of rain. I would ask that a representative from your team (not individually please) pay via cash or credit card (except Diners Club) at the cashier when you arrive on Monday (durning the course practice time). You’ll be able to pay for both days and you’ll receive tickets you can hand out. Please remind your athletes that Monday’s race is not too far after lunch, so even with all the choices, they probably should not gorge themselves.
The buffet room does not have space for all of us at the same time. On Monday and Tuesday the buffet will open at 11:00 and close at 14:00 and I ask that you go when you are able and leave when you are done to provide space for others. Even still many of us will be eating together and it will a great time of community.

Rules
Girls and Boys 5k
- A full team is defined as having a minimum of 5, and a maximum of 7 runners.
- Coaches need to report any unofficial runners (for teams with more than 7 runners) at the coaches meeting prior to the race (extra runners will run in the open race).
- The first 5 finishers on a team of seven will score. The sixth and seventh will retain his/her position and push the following runners back in the standings.
- Schools with less than 5 runners will qualify for only individual awards and will not be considered in team scoring.
- Ties will be broken in favor of the team with the sixth runner who places best.
Open Race
- A runner completing in the open race must be:
- An athlete beloning to a team that has more than 7 HS runners in a gender
- A coach or assistant coach of a competing team
- A relative of a competing athlete
- Runners who cannot complete the 5k within 40 minutes will be asked to step aside until after the start of the girls race
- NOTE: a shirt is not provided to registrants of the open race except for unoffical HS athletes (those beloning to a team that has more than 7 HS runners in a gender).
Relay
- A full relay team is a minimum of 5 pairs, and a maximum of 7 pairs.
- Relay team members must be comprised of designated official runners in the previous day’s 5k and must have started that race and given a good-faith effort in the individual 5k.
- Only teams with a full boys & girls team will qualify for awards.
- A pair will consist of a boy and a girl.
- Each member will take turn running a 1.5k course (3x)
- The first five pairs to finish from each team will score. The sixth and seventh will retain their position and push the following pairs in standings.
Overall Championship
- A full team is required in both the boys and girls 5k and the boys and girls relay in order to be eligible for the overall team championship.
- Points are determined with team places via the following formula: 5k Male + 5k Female + Relay

Tri-blend T-shirt
Tri-blend T-shirts follow American sizing. Extra tri-blend t-shirts are available for ¥4,000 each.
Hotel
Where to stay
Please look to book a hotel in the Chiba-shi (Chiba city) area of Chiba prefecture. There are many hotels in the Chiba-shi area. Please try to book a hotel close to the Sotobu train line (see below) for your convenience. There are also many hotels in Makuhari (because of the Tokyo Big Site convention center), but that is further away.
Transport
On Monday and Tuesday mornings I will have busses at the Honda train station (east side of Chiba-shi, 20 mins by train from downtown Chiba-shi) that will take you to the course. The busses will return you to Honda station after Monday’s race and Tuesday’s awards ceremony. This will be included at no extra charge within your registration fees.
UNAVAILABLE - Resol no Mori (リソルの森) is unfortunately, fully booked

Location
Traveling from the Airport
- Haneda Airport - ¥1,400/person - likely only one transfer - 1 hour 40 mins
- Narita Airport - ¥1,100/person - likely only one transfer - 1 hour 10 mins
You will need to look at timetables (like
Hyperdia) to figure out the specifics for your specific situation. Both these trips bring you to Honda train station where you can be picked up by the hotel. Limousine buses (from either airport) to Chiba train station (and then train from Chiba to Honda) would work as well, they would likely add some more time (they don’t run as often as trains), and expense (likely ¥500 more), but they do help you not to have to lug bags for at least one train leg. Usually the timing has to workout right for busses to be a good option (or if you travel with a lot of luggage). So you know, taxis will be VERY expensive, you really only want to consider busses, trains (or rental cars if that would work out, but note, likely more expensive and parking is hard if you are moving downtown later in your trip).
The hotel does have a
bus timetable, but I think you can arrange with them to pick you up at a time more convenient for you (if needed) during your reservation.
Kanto Plain XC Finals
For those who want to have more running in their trip, you can join us for our League meet on Saturday, October 26. Here are some details about that event.
- The race will be at Tama Hills which is an American Military Recreational Facility and as such all entrants need base clearance to attend. Schools will need to fill out a base clearance list and submit it by October 8. Note that athletes of all nationalities are often approved for clearance, but adults who are only citizens of the countries on the list of Third Country Nationals (note this list is old and should be used for reference only) won’t be allowed entry.
- The entry fee for the race is a chip rental fee and is ¥50/chip (like 34¢/chip right now). Athletes will only wear one chip in this race.
- As this is our league meet, the top 15 league athletes in each race will be recognized. Any non-league athlete who finishes within the top 15 league athletes will be recognized as well.
- While it is a 10-15 minute walk from Minami-Tama train station to the Tama Hills entrance, it is about a 20 minute walk inside the park to the start line (up a hill), so plan extra time for getting to the race location.
- HS races will likely start around 9:45 and the awards ceremony will likely end around 12:00.
